Lincoln County High’s track team debuted at their first meet, the Bulldog Early Bird Invitational, on March 8.
Noah Smith earned first place in the 100m at 11.83 seconds, third place in the 200m at 23.75 seconds and first place in the 110m hurdles at 17.25 seconds.
Alex Rowe achieved a new personal record of 59.81 seconds in the 400m. He came in at 2:39.45 in the 800m.
Ashton Showell came in at 3:18.53 in the 800m and 6:28.72 in the 1600m.
In shot put and discus, Kyle Zierow threw 34-03.25 and 96-04, respectively.
In the high jump and long jump, Cody Zile PR’d at 5-04 and 16-10. He PR’d again in the triple jump at 37-06, finishing in fourth place.
Zile, Smith, Zierow and Rowe raced in the 4x100m and placed fourth.
In the women’s 100m, Rhyan Shumway ran 15.58 seconds. In the long jump, Shumway came in at 11-03.
Natalie Wadsworth ran the 200m with a time of 34.26. She also ran in the 400m at 1:15.17.
Nani Lebaron ran the 800m at 3:09.20. In the 1600m, Lebaron ran 6:39.56.
In shot put, Sara Decker threw 18. In discus, she threw 45-06.
“We had some good performances,” said coach Lacie Pearson.
She added, “We just all established a good jumping-off place. The first meet of the season is always our jumping-off point. From here on out we try to improve, and by the time we get to the regional meets, we should be ready.”
Thursday, March 14, the track team is at Desert Oasis High School for their second meet in Las Vegas.
