A single-vehicle rollover March 23 took the life of 65-year-old Nancy Hawk of Las Vegas on U.S. Highway 93 in the Pony Springs area. She was alone in the vehicle.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department reported a 911 call was received about 2:20 Saturday afternoon about a single-vehicle rollover involving a 2004 Jeep Wrangler with Nevada license plates.

The Nevada Highway Patrol, sheriff’s deputies and Pioche Fire and Ambulance responded. The victim, not thrown from the vehicle, had to be extricated by the fire department and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies said the Jeep had rolled, but did not go over the edge and was “still partially on the highway.” The road was limited for a time to one-way traffic until the scene could be cleaned up.

The sheriff’s department said the vehicle was traveling north. They do not suspect the woman was under the influence of any substance, nor has the cause of the accident been determined yet.
