March 26-28, Nevada Care Connection Resource Center and Nevada Free Taxes Coalition, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) were in Lincoln County, providing free income tax assistance to county residents.

Pat Smith (VITA) and Riley Franco were in the area to provide free one-stop access to resources and information for seniors, people with disabilities and caregivers who need assistance. Smith and Franco spent Tuesday in Caliente, Wednesday in Panaca and Pioche and Thursday in Alamo.

Smith offered help with income tax preparation. VITA is a program established by the United States government to provide free tax preparation assistance by IRS-certified volunteers. This program was designed to help low-to moderate-income individuals, persons with disabilities, elderly and limited English speakers file their taxes each year. Franco is with Nevada Senior Services Inc. Care Connection Resource Center is, which provides access to long-term services and support. She works with partners to bring additional services to areas including Lincoln County. In addition to Nevada Free Taxes Coalitions, some of the organizations she works with include Helping Hands of Vegas Village, Senior Medicare Patrol, Relay Nevada, Nevada Department of Veterans Services and Medicare.
