The Lady Panthers got a slow start to the basketball season after competing in preseason tournaments in Wells and Virginia City.
Going 1-3 at the Comstock Classic in Virginia City last week left the girls with an early season record of 1-5.
At Virginia City, they lost 35-20 to Virginia City, 55-25 to defending girls state champion Mineral County and 49-23 to Coleville, before finally obtaining a 42-19 win over Sierra Lutheran.
This week, the girls played Lincoln County (3-4) in Panaca for a non-league game, their only meeting of the season.
On Saturday, they host Owyhee (7-1) in Alamo. The girls lost to Owyhee 47-18 at the Wells Rural Electric tournament Dec. 7.
The Lady Panthers will play three of their next five games on the road at Eureka Dec. 28, Moapa Valley Jan. 7 and White Pine Jan. 14.
The home games in that time period are with Mineral County Jan. 4 and Mountain View Christian Jan. 10.
The Lady Panthers’ first league game is with Green Valley Christian Jan. 24.
Pahranagat won the league last year, but lost to Tonopah 45-43 in the first round of the Region II tournament.
