Trooper shooting defendant pleads guilty by reason of mental illness

A 67-year-old man pleaded “guilty but mentally ill” on July 26 at White Pine County District Court in Ely, pertaining to an ambush-style shooting early last year that left a Nevada Highway Patrol sergeant dead.
