Caliente kicks off Christmas with tree lighting

Thanks to the efforts of the beautification committee, the city was bedecked with decorations from the clock island to Front Street. The Depot was decorated with a giant sleigh and reindeer donated by Patty Long and the Livreri family in loving memory of Paul Long.

As the crowd started singing “Here Comes Santa Claus,” Santa rode up Front Street in the Caliente Volunteer Fire Truck. This year he didn’t have to wait for a train, but made it straight to the Depot, where a crowd of kids and adults were waiting to see him. The ladies of the committee were kept busy handing out hot chocolate and cookies. The dance teams performed, and Caliente Elementary students sang. The evening was deemed a total success.

A big thanks to the entertainment, the ladies on the beautification committee, Councilman Sean FitzSimons, the city crew, Joe Livreri and the NDF crew.
