This year’s Memorial Day theme was “Look What We’ve Been Through. Welcome 2022.”
The Memorial Day parade started May 28 with the VFW Post 7114 Color Guard leading the parade, followed by the grand marshals. Tommy and Peggy Rowe, who have led by example in our community, both graduated from Lincoln County High School and will be celebrating their 54th anniversary June 1. Tommy has been postmaster in Tonopah and Pioche, fire chief of the Caliente Volunteer Fire Department, county commissioner, mayor of the City of Caliente and is presently on the city council and running for re-election.

Peggy has held down the homefront while working at C.O. Bastian. Now retired, she is presently sitting on the Lincoln County School Board. Both give each other credit for their accomplishments. The Rowes have raised five children. You can often see the couple holding hands as they are attending their grandkids’ activities.
After the parade, the crowd headed to Rose Memorial Park for games set up for the kids and to Dixon Park as the softball tournament continued.
