CARSON CITY — Today, Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine expressed his support for Teamster workers at United Parcel Service (“UPS”) by signing a letter to CEO Carol B. Tome, urging the company to come to an agreement to pay workers fairly to avoid massive supply chain disruptions.
Conine was also joined by the Treasurers and Comptrollers of Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oregon, Rhode Island and Vermont who also signed onto this letter to the company.
“Throughout the pandemic UPS workers kept our economy moving while putting themselves and their families at risk,” Conine said. “Now, the company needs to do the right thing and come to a reasonable agreement to compensate its full-time and part-time workers fairly.”
Due to a recent breakdown in contract negotiations, a nationwide strike is set to begin at the end of this month.
Nationally, there are more than 340,000 Teamsters who work either full-time or part-time with UPS. In Nevada, roughly 1,800 UPS workers are represented by Teamsters Local 631 in Las Vegas and 1,200 are represented by Teamsters Local 533 in Reno.
