Panther teams rolling after dominant wins

Pahranagat Valley High School football had little trouble with the Spring Mountain as the Panthers shut out the Eagles 60-0 at Indian Springs.

The team next faces Beaver Dam on Friday, Sept. 29 at 7:00 p.m. in Littlefield, Arizona for the first league contest of the season.

The Panthers sit at 2-2 this season with blowout wins of Spring Mountain and Round Mountain and tight losses to Williams, Arizona and Eureka. The Panthers were on their way to victory over Indian Springs at home on Sept. 1 but the game was canceled due to bad weather. Beaver Dam is 1-2 on the year with losses to Round Mountain and Indian Springs; and a win over Fredonia.

The Lady Panthers volleyball team has won six straight following a 3-1 win at home over Lincoln County on Sept. 20, a 3-0 home win over Round Mountain on Friday, Sept. 22 and a 3-0 victory at Mountain View on Tuesday the 26th.

With a win over White Pine on this year’s resume, head coach Milly Walch is happy with how the team is playing so far.

“We’re playing really well and working hard,” she said.

Senior setter Myla Walch recently returned after missing the first part of the season following finger surgery last spring.

“She has brought some intensity and offense to our game,” Coach Walch said. “We have enjoyed having her and her positive leadership back.”

The coach highlighted other standout players, including sophomore Cami Cannon who “is playing tough in the middle” and had six block kills in the last three games.

Junior Hadee Walch “is smart with her tips and has good serves along with great passes,” Coach Walch said, and senior Megan Hansen is playing well in the back row and has 30 good serves in the past three games.

The coach added sophomore Livi Walch served 13 points in a row against Round Mountain.

“It’s good to have young upcoming players,” she said.

The team was 7-4 overall and 3-0 in league play as they prepared to play at Awaken Christian High School on Thursday, Sept. 28. The Lady Panthers play at Beaver Dam on Friday, Sept. 29 and at Liberty Baptist on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
