Goodbye, Mary

It’s with sadness that we mark the recent passing of longtime Lincoln County Record writer Mary Cordle. 

Mary began writing for the Record in January 2017, covering news in Caliente. Over the last seven years, we don’t recall her ever missing a City Council meeting, and she served her readers well with detailed reports on discussions and decisions that took place. She did this along with covering countless other events over the years. Her deep love for the community was evident in her consistency as a reporter and insistence that her editor not mess up her articles!

Mary’s final article submitted to the Record is titled, “We are blessed.” In it, she honors the emergency responders and hospital staff who assisted her after she fell ill. 

“We are one blessed community,” she wrote. “Thank you to each one who has touched my life and heart in unimaginable ways.”

Thank you, Mary, for your years of dedicated service and love. Our heart goes out to all your loved ones. 

We will miss you.
