NSRA Head 2 Head Stampede comes to Pioche

The Nevada State Racing Association (NSRA) roared back into Pioche on July 26 and 27 for round three of their summer series. The Head 2 Head Stampede saw top racers from across the region competing in a grueling two-day showdown.

Friday night’s competition featured 14 AA Pros battling it out. Lincoln County’s own Axel Pearson, the 2023 series champion, claimed the top qualifying spot after earning an impressive 9:48 on the eight-mile special test.

Saturday’s race saw a fiercely competitive field in both the AA Pro and Expert classes. Utah’s Daemon Woolslayer emerged victorious, narrowly edging out Idaho’s Preston Campbell by two seconds. Nick Burson of Ridgecrest, California, secured third place, with Pearson finishing 19 seconds behind Burson.

In the Expert division, Janten Reber took the top honors, while Chayce Trujillo secured the Amateur win. Local rider Weston Pearson triumphed in the Novice class. The Minis also took on the 13-mile course, with Robert Armijo of Ely, Nevada, winning the 85cc class, and Caliente’s Ryland Barnes won the 65cc class by a narrow 26 seconds. Adding to the weekend’s excitement, Sportsman Cycle once again hosted a Kids Electric Balance Bike Race in the main pits.

Race organizer Jason Beam praised the event, saying, “Another great weekend of racing in Pioche, Nevada,” as the NSRA wrapped up round three. With the series heading toward its final round, the Silver Mine 100 is set to close out the season in Caselton on Aug. 17.
