The 1A State Football Semifinals were held in Fernley on Saturday, Nov. 16. It was a bitterly cold afternoon, but the Pahranagat Valley Panthers dominated, beating the Eureka Vandals, 54-0.
In the first quarter, the Panthers started strong with a touchdown scored by Jesse Stewart and a conversion by Jake Hagfeldt. There was also a fumble recovery by Trueitt Staley. AJ Thornton scored a touchdown, and a fumble was recovered by Braxten Tsosie so the score at the end of the first quarter was 14-0.

In the second quarter, Stewart scored another touchdown and Boogie Lewis got the conversion. A touchdown was then scored by Hagfeldt, followed by a conversion by Tsosie. There was a pass interception by Hagfeldt, a touchdown scored by Lewis and a conversion by Tsosie.
At this point, the Panthers were so far ahead that there was a running clock. Before the second half ended there was one more touchdown by Tsosie. Going into halftime, the score was 46-0. In the fourth quarter, Stewart scored another touchdown, leading to a Panther victory, 54-0.
In the other semifinal game, Tonopah trounced Carlin, 64-8. The Panthers take on the Muckers for the state championship on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 9 a.m. at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
