Each year, hunters and trappers make good use of Lincoln County’s 10,000 square miles of wilderness. 

Mountain lion hunting is year-round, and tags can be obtained over the counter with a required hunting license. Big game hunting opens Aug. 1 and typically runs through the first week of January with a variety of tags including archery, muzzleloader and rifle. 

Trapping season opens Nov. 1 through Feb 28 including bobcat, red and kit fox. Those are just a few of the many types of hunting and trapping options in Lincoln County. 

Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) Game Warden Lieutenant John Anderson is very excited about the recent opening of their new office at 137 Hollywood Way in Pioche. They will gladly answer any questions regarding wildlife, fishing, trapping and hunting in Lincoln County. 

There are many guidelines that must be followed in order to legally and safely hunt. You can apply for resident and non-resident tags beginning in March at nevada.licensing.app. Be sure to have your Hunter’s Safety Course Certificate before applying.
