Caliente Beautification Committee hosts Cookies and Santa event

Holiday spirit was in full swing at Rose Park in Caliente this past week with the “Cookies with Santa” event hosted by the Caliente Beautification Committee on Dec. 7.

After sunset, a large crowd of residents and visitors gathered to celebrate the official start of Christmas in the community. Guests warmed up with hot chocolate, enjoyed an assortment of cookies and took time to write letters to Santa while waiting for his grand arrival.

The Grinch made an appearance just before the crowd enjoyed performances by children from Caliente Elementary School. At one point the kids entertained the audience with a rendition of “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” as the green character hopped around the scene, teasing viewers.

When Santa made his much-anticipated entrance, he greeted each child with a smile and listened intently to their Christmas wishes. Loved ones made sure to capture the moments by taking plenty of photos and videos of kids and their families with Santa.

The event was made possible through the efforts of the Caliente Beautification Committee, the City of Caliente, the Caliente Volunteer Fire Department and numerous volunteers.

“A big thank you to the city and Logan for the lights and getting Santa to the park! We love our community!” said organizers later that evening. With smiles, laughter and no shortage of holiday cheer, the event left attendees looking forward to next year’s celebration.
