April Blanche Dotson Elmer passed away January 4, 2025 at her home in Panaca, Nevada.

She was born in Cedar City, Utah to Ruben and Emily Dotson, one of six children. She was raised in Minersville, Utah and graduated from Beaver High School with honors. She attended and graduated from LDS Business College with an associate’s degree.
She married the man she always prayed for, Gary Elmer, on March 18, 1972. They lived several places throughout the marriage which included Salt Lake City, UT, Pocatello, Idaho, Milford, UT and Carp, Nevada. They lived in Carp for 6 months while the home was being built in Panaca, Nevada. They moved into their final homestead in Panaca in April of 1979 where they raised their 3 children: Amy, Jennifer and Matthew, throughout their adventures of life.
April was a devoted and loving wife of over 52 years and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary together with close family in March, 2022. She was an active faithful member of the Church of Latter-day Saints. She loved going to the temple with her husband, family and friends. She held many different callings within the church including genealogy, librarian and relief society.
She was a homemaker, baker, seamstress, and quilted blankets for family. She enjoyed canning food and she still has not shared her pickle recipe. She enjoyed playing cards with family and was always the score keeper.
She loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and looked forward to attending the sporting events of her grandchildren to cheer them on.
April is survived by her husband Gary; children: Amy Jo Wilkin (Lorin) of Pioche, NV, Jennifer Rollins of Las Vegas, NV; and Matthew Elmer (Amy) of Pioche, NV; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother Nick Dotson (Colleen) of Beaver, UT; sisters: Jeanne Gale Beaver of UT, Beth Ashworth (Butch) of Salt Lake City, UT, Faye Price (Danny) of Blackfoot, ID, and Jolynn Leko (Joey) of Milford, UT.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruben and Emily Dotson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday January 18, 2025 at 12:00 Noon at the Panaca Ward Chapel. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:30-11:30 am. Interment will be in the Panaca Cemetery, under the direction of Southern Nevada Mortuary.
