On February 20, 2025, Ronald Jeremy Robinson appeared before the Seventh Judicial District Court Judge Gary Fairman with his attorney, Robert M. Draskovich, Esq., and was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility for parole after 28 years for the murder of Pioche resident Reed Hoover in November 2023.
After being found competent to stand trial, Mr. Robinson, with the assistance of his attorney, plead guilty but mentally ill to Murder with a Deadly Weapon of Mr. Hoover at Arraignment on November 8, 2024. Judge Fairman accepted Mr. Robinson’s plea of guilty, found he was mentally ill, and originally set sentencing for March 11, 2025. However, due to conflicts with schedules, the parties stipulated to move the sentencing up to February 20, 2025.
At sentencing, Judge Fairman heard arguments from the District Attorney and Mr. Robinson’s attorney as to the appropriate sentence. The Court also reviewed letters both in support and in opposition to Mr. Robinson; reviewed a letter written by Mr. Robinson; and took a verbal statement from Mr. Robinson. Finally, the Court reviewed letters and took verbal statements from the family of Reed Hoover outlining their loss and frustration at the senseless murder of their father and brother. After considering all evidence and facts of the case, Judge Fairman recognized that the events of this case were a tragedy for both the Hoover and Robinson families. Judge Fairman found specifically that Mr. Robinson showed no remorse for the 2023 murder of Reed Hoover and therefore sentenced him to life in prison with the possibility for parole after 28 years.
The Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office offers its sincere condolences to all those who have suffered loss as a result of the actions of Mr. Robinson, most especially the family of Reed Hoover.
