Glen Clarence Poulsen, 94, passed away March 15, 2025, in Alamo, NV, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born May 8, 1930, in Bloomington, ID, as the first child to Clarence and Mary Pearl Nelson Poulsen.

At the age of six, Glen’s family moved to Brigham City, UT, where he spent much of his youth. At the age of sixteen, he began working for the railroad, pounding spikes, and laying tracks. While working for the railroad, he sustained an injury to his eye, which led him to return to Ogden at the age of 18 where he started his career working for the government at Hill Air Force Base.

In 1951, Glen was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War, where he served as an MP in Japan. While in Japan, he was recruited by the USO to teach dance to the service men and Japanese woman. This is where his love of dancing started.

After he was honorably discharged from the Army, Glen returned to Hill Air Force Base, continuing his work there until his retirement in 1974.

On March 5, 1955, Glen married Grace Mary Festa, and they had one son, Glen J.C. They later divorced. On November 4, 1960, Glen married Maxine Ruth Hull in the Logan LDS Temple. They had four children: Mark, Wade, Michelle, and Lynette, and enjoyed 24 years of marriage.

After retiring from Hill Air Force Base, Glen pursued several ventures, including opening a donut franchise in Ogden, Roy and Brigham City, UT, which he operated until 1976. In 1977, he moved his family to Alamo, NV, where he worked as an electrician at Union Carbide Mine. In 1985, Glen followed his passion for building and became a general contractor in California. During this time, Glen remodeled and built several homes, including homes for his family. He eventually retired to Beaver Dam, AZ, in a home he built himself.

Glen married Betty Joyce Robinson on October 23, 2000, and they later divorced.

In addition to his professional life, Glen shared his deep love for dancing with others as a Ward and Stake Dance Director. He continued to dance well into his 80s. He also had a passion for working with and training horses. He enjoyed horse racing and chariot racing across the states of Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Arizona.

Glen loved his family deeply, especially his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and took great pride in being an active part of their lives.

Glen’s legacy is one of hard work, family love, and a passion for life that inspired those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who know him.

Glen is survived by his children: Wade (Tracie) Poulsen, Michelle (Mike) Evans, and Lynette (Ross) Stirling; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; and his siblings: Duane Poulsen and Merle Richan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mary Pearl Poulsen; his sons, Glen J.C. Poulsen and Mark Glen Poulsen; his great-grandson, Monroe Sorensen; and his siblings: Norma Poulsen, Dorothy Butler, Gerald Poulsen, and Arlin Poulsen.

A graveside service will be held Friday, March 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. MDT at the Hooper City Cemetery at 5290 S. 6300 W., Hooper, UT 84315.
