The Caliente Community United Methodist Church will host a Firehouse Luau fundraiser on Saturday, May 17, at 1 p.m., in the Caliente Fire Hall. This event will feature a live performance by the Tongan community from Las Vegas, showcasing traditional Tongan music and dance.
Tonga, an island nation in the South Pacific, has a rich cultural heritage that is celebrated through vibrant performances and music. Expect live performances of island songs, accompanied by Tongan drumming and string instruments. Attendees will witness dances such as the graceful hula and other cultural routines that showcase Tongan storytelling through movement.
Guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy a meal consisting of roast pork, five island dishes and dessert. The event is designed to provide a taste of Tongan cuisine while supporting the church’s initiatives.
Tickets are priced at $20 per person, with a total of 70 tickets available for sale before the event. Tickets can be purchased in advance from Sasha Orr at Nevada Bank & Trust in Caliente. For more information or questions, individuals can contact (775) 726-3665.
