The Pahranagat Valley High School softball team delivered a weekend of thrilling victories to seize the NIAA 1A state championship.
The girls swept the tournament, held at Indian Springs May 15-17, with three straight wins to secure the trophy, bringing their overall season record to 24-8.

This is the 10th state title for the softball program, all won under long-time head coach Mike Sparrow.
“I appreciate this group of girls and coaches for their hard work and dedication to softball,” Sparrow said. “The girls pushed themselves and each other to get better at every opportunity.”
Kicking off their state tournament journey, the Lady Panthers secured a commanding 12-4 victory over Pyramid Lake. Evie Davis immediately set the pace with a two-run, inside-the-park home run in the first inning. After a crucial walk by Shada Spencer helped tie the game at three in the second, Cami Cannon’s two-run triple in the third inning thrust the Panthers into a 5-4 lead. Pahranagat then broke the game open in the fifth, erupting for six runs on four hits. This decisive rally included another powerful two-run triple from Davis, an RBI single by Spencer, a fielder’s choice off Mylah Stout’s bat that plated two runs, and an additional run scoring on an error. Starting pitcher Hadee Walch delivered a complete game performance, striking out eight and allowing four runs on four hits over seven innings.
Pahranagat next battled to a hard-fought 12-9 victory over Wells High School on May 16. Hadee Walch and Davis spearheaded the offense, each collecting two hits and driving in three crucial runs, while Rylee Lewis also chipped in with two hits. Aggressiveness on the basepaths was a hallmark of their play, as the team racked up an impressive 10 stolen bases, with Hadee Walch, Spencer, and Lewis each nabbing multiple bags. Demonstrating discipline at the plate, the Panthers also drew five walks. Davis got the start as pitcher, and over four innings, she allowed six runs on six hits, striking out three while walking six.
Wells battled back through the elimination bracket to meet PVHS on May 17 for the title matchup. The Lady Panthers showed no interest in giving Wells any life and took the 2025 State Softball Championship title, 15-5.

The Panthers took a 7-2 lead in the second inning. Wells got the score to 7-5 in the fourth, but eight runs in the fifth and sixth sealed it for the champs.
Alivia Walch drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Panthers with three runs batted in. The second baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. The Panthers tallied five walks for the game. Cannon and Stout led the team with two free passes each. Hadee Walch and Paisley McVey each stole multiple bases. The Panthers ran wild on the base path, piling up nine stolen bases for the game. Davis was the starting pitcher and gave up one hit and three runs over two innings, striking out zero and walking one. Hadee Walch came in as relief pitcher for four innings and gave up one hit and two runs, striking out zero and walking five.
The team celebrated with the community that evening with a caravan through Alamo and the ringing of the victory bell at the high school.
“I am so blessed to spend time with these outstanding young ladies and achieve our ultimate goal of a state championship,” Sparrow said. “It feels great to bring home another state championship to our school and community. I am also grateful for the support of the school administration, parents and community.”
