PAHRUMP — The Molina Healthcare Charitable Foundation, in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of Nevada (“Molina”), awarded a $10,000 grant to NyE Communities Coalition (“NyECC”) in support of a new transportation program that will bridge barriers to care for Nye, Lincoln and Esmeralda County residents.
In Nevada’s rural and frontier communities, a lack of reliable transportation was identified as the most significant barrier to accessing health care for over 7% of residents. This grant will fund repairs and maintenance for NyECC vehicles transporting residents to health and social services, including medical appointments, mental health support and community resources.
“Molina’s commitment to Nevada includes understanding what our communities need and finding solutions to address them,” said Rob Baughman, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Nevada. “Molina aims to enhance transportation assistance in rural areas so residents can be empowered to take action when it comes to receiving care and social services that help improve health outcomes.”
Beginning in June 2025, Nye, Lincoln and Esmeralda community residents can access free transportation services, either through NyECC’s vehicles or fuel-only vouchers.
“Rural areas of Nevada face significant challenges in accessing health care, and rural Nevadans without transportation resources face even greater obstacles to care,” said Stacy Smith, CEO of NyE Communities Coalition. “We appreciate Molina’s support that will provide transportation services to our rural communities, bridging a significant barrier to care and creating a healthier Silver State.”
Residents of Nye, Esmeralda and Lincoln counties can contact NyECC and its team of certified community health workers to inquire about transportation services supported by this grant by calling the Pahrump office at (775)727-9970 or the Tonopah office at (775)482-6561. Community members may also email chw@nyecc.org or visit the website at https://nyecc.org/contact-us/ for additional information.
