Ronal “Chad” Young, a man with positive spirit and warm humor, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the age of 73 from complications related to Emery Dreifuss Muscular Dystrophy. Chad’s life, which began on Christmas Day, December 25, 1951, was a testament to his “can-do” attitude, even as he navigated his physical limitations.

Chad was an alumnus of Lincoln County High School (1970) and the University of Utah, where he earned a degree in Social Work. His diverse career included running a service station and an RV park, and finished as the High School Counselor for C.O. Bastian High School, where he guided and supported many troubled youth.
A man of deep faith, Chad was an active and committed member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His dedication was evident in the many callings he held, including High Councilor, Bishop, and Young Men’s President. Beyond his church service, Chad was a lifelong learner and explorer, with a deep love for local history and family history work. He was also a prodigious journaler, meticulously documenting his thoughts and experiences. He found immense joy in simply driving through the scenic mountains and hills of Utah and Nevada, and with a little help from his children, even managed some adventurous ATV rides later in life—proof that good humor and a desire for exploration could overcome most obstacles.
For Chad, family was his greatest treasure. He diligently sought to maintain connections with all his loved ones, finding immense happiness in their well-being. He will be deeply missed and remembered for his unwavering willingness to serve others and his perpetually positive outlook, even as he faced significant physical limitations.
Chad is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Zippro Young, whose selfless care for over five decades allowed him to live a full and joyful life; his children: Daniel (Suzanne) Young, Matthew (Heather) Young, Mark (Rosy) Young, Shelley (Cory) Neill, and Susan (John) Willingham; he was a doting grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; he is also survived by his siblings: Lorraine Avery, Stanley Young, Pamela Lewis, and Craig Young.
Chad was preceded in death by his parents, Ronal Theo Young and Betty Loraine Ercanbrack, and his son Ronal Neal Young, and brother Jonathan Young.
Funeral services will be held at 11am (Pacific Time) on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Panaca, Nevada, with Bishop John Willingham officiating. Following the service, Chad will be laid to rest in the Caliente Cemetery.
