The Nevada Division of State Parks (NDSP) announced the launch of an interactive StoryMap and public survey to engage the community in shaping the future of Kershaw-Ryan State Park and Elgin Schoolhouse State Historic Site.

Nevada State Parks announced the launch of an interactive StoryMap and public survey to shape the future of Kershaw-Ryan State Park and Elgin Schoolhouse State Historic Site.
NDSP is currently in the process of updating the development plan for Kershaw-Ryan and creating a new development plan for Elgin Schoolhouse. These plans will address each park’s current and future needs, outline a long-term vision for the sites and identify specific projects and priorities. This initiative marks a significant step in the planning process, inviting the public to provide valuable feedback on potential park improvements and preservation efforts.
The StoryMap offers an immersive digital experience that highlights the unique natural and cultural resources of Kershaw-Ryan and Elgin Schoolhouse. Viewers can explore detailed maps and proposed development concepts designed to improve visitor amenities while preserving the integrity of these special sites.
A public survey embedded within the StoryMap provides an easy and accessible way for the public to share their ideas, preferences and concerns regarding Kershaw-Ryan and Elgin Schoolhouse. Input gathered through this survey will directly inform the final development plans, ensuring they reflect the needs and values of the community and those that care about the parks.
The StoryMap and survey are now live, and the survey will remain available through Sunday, September 7, 2025.
