The Lincoln Community Coalition (LCC) is pleased to share highlights of our progress and community impact for the month of July. LCC secured funding from Southern Nevada United Way, allowing the coalition to continue Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and establish the Lincoln County Literacy Enrichment Program. Further information about this program will be released soon. Executive Director Charli Miller also earned her Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) credential, further enhancing the coalition’s expertise in prevention efforts.
July was full of community engagement. The Family Fun Event in Alamo at the Splash Pad (in June) was a tremendous success, providing families with prevention materials, family resources, and community information. Senior Movement Days at the Caliente Senior Center have been well-received and continue to grow in popularity, and Music at Rose Park in Caliente has been another successful community activity bringing residents together.
The coalition also successfully completed the Local Justice Reimbursement Program, which served over 30 justice-involved individuals and their families throughout Lincoln County. This program was deemed a success, and LCC is exploring ways to sustain it with additional funding opportunities. LCC continues to focus on prevention and family support while also seeking new board members. Anyone interested is encouraged to reach out to the coalition.
August is bringing exciting opportunities for community collaboration. LCC will be working closely with Nye Communities Coalition and other prevention coalitions throughout Nevada, and we are awaiting news from Union Pacific Railroad on the Community Investment Grant that could further enhance our local initiatives.
Additionally, we will host a Teen Night on August 21st by the high school football field, featuring outdoor games and a back-to-school barbecue for all teens ages 12 and older. We will also be hosting our “Backpack Give Away”, at Caliente, Panaca, and Pioche elementary schools, and the Alamo splash pad park the August 14 and 15.
The Lincoln Community Coalition remains committed to serving the residents of Lincoln County by providing prevention-focused programs, family enrichment opportunities, and meaningful community engagement. For any questions, resource needs, or to get involved, please contact Charli Miller, Executive Director, who is happy to assist with community needs.
