Pahranagat Valley (1A) and Lincoln County earned top honors in their respective classifications, capturing the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association’s (NIAA) Award of Excellence in Academics, Athletics and Citizenship for the 2024-25 academic and athletic year.
Established in 2001, the NIAA’s Award of Excellence recognizes the most well-rounded high school programs across Nevada. Points are awarded based on varsity team performance in the classroom, athletic competition and the Citizenship Through Sports initiative. Academics, athletics and sportsmanship are equally weighted in the scoring system, with boys’ and girls programs combined. Additional points are given for spirit and leadership activities, while penalties are assessed for ejections and unsportsmanlike behavior throughout the year.
Each classification champion receives a commemorative trophy during the NIAA’s preseason meetings with athletic administrators, directors and secretaries. The association considers this award its highest honor, celebrating schools that exemplify excellence across all facets of student participation.
Congratulations to the Panthers and Lynx for their outstanding achievements.
