Lincoln County courthouse closes during emergency repairs

The Lincoln County Courthouse closed on Wednesday, Aug. 13, due to emergency repairs in the building’s basement. 

The closure comes as crews continue work on a major sewer break that occurred earlier this summer.

The project has reached the stage where the basement floor is being coated with epoxy, and the fumes are expected to be strongest on Wednesday. The break required the complete removal of basement floor tiles, and crews are in the process of applying an epoxy floor coating. The fumes from the epoxy have been reported as strong enough to cause headaches for both employees and visitors, prompting officials to close the building during the worst of the process.

Courthouse staff plan to return to normal hours in the upcoming week, but availability may vary by department. Officials are asking residents to call ahead before traveling to ensure the office they need is open and staffed.
