The 2025 Pioche Labor Day grand marshals, Mike and Jo Fogliani, are celebrated for five decades of community service.
Mike, a fourth-generation Pioche resident, has been a self-employed business owner and active in local government and civic organizations. He has served on the Pioche Town Board, chamber of commerce, county commission, bank board and power board. He was also a member of the Volunteer Fire Department and founder and chairman of the Labor Day Committee. In addition, he performed as a drummer in a local band during Labor Day events and parades. Mike and Jo operated Mike’s Chevron before transitioning it to Mike’s Mini Mart, which they sold in 1987. The location is now known as Tillie’s. Mike also worked for the Lincoln County School District from 1983 to 2005 and worked part-time for Jim Wilkin Trucking.
Jo worked for the school district from 1977 to 2008 as a teacher’s aide, kindergarten teacher and secretary. She has participated in the Labor Day Committee, the election board and the beautification committee. Together, the couple also ran an auto repair shop at the site now occupied by the local grocery store.
The Foglianis have been involved in Labor Day events for decades, citing family, friends and community celebrations as memorable parts of the holiday. They encourage the public to enjoy a safe and festive Labor Day.
