Caliente Elementary School’s Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is launching a popular fundraiser called “Flock My Yard” starting Sept. 1. All proceeds will benefit the Caliente Elementary PTO efforts.
The fundraiser allows participants to surprise a friend, family member, coworker or neighbor with a yard filled with plastic flamingos. Flamingos will remain in each yard for three days. Each flocking costs $25, and participants can purchase “flock insurance” for $15 to have the flock removed immediately.
Funds raised through the flocking will help support Caliente PTO events, including the Bingo with Grandparents event on Sept. 10. The event will feature prizes, desserts and games for students and their grandparents or loved ones to enjoy for free.
Flocking is limited to yards in Caliente, though requests can be submitted by anyone. Payments can be made to the Caliente PTO by check or cash, delivered to the school and clearly marked for PTO use. The fundraiser will continue into the fall, helping the PTO maintain free and low-cost family events for the local community.
PTO organizer Kayla Cheeney said, “It’s been a long time since we’ve done this, and it’s something everyone can participate in.”
Community members interested in participating can contact Cheeney at (702) 540-3329 to be added to the flock calendar.
