Friday Night Surrender NA began in September 2024 and has since become a lifeline for many in Lincoln County.
Each Friday, the doors of Victory Life Church open at 6 p.m. to welcome anyone facing recovery, offering a safe place of encouragement, understanding and support.
The program has grown into a vital community resource, as Friday Night Surrender remains the only Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meeting currently available in the area. With addiction touching more and more families, the consistency of this meeting provides hope and a reminder that no one has to walk their journey alone.
NA meetings are built on values of honesty, accountability and compassion. They are a space where individuals can share their experiences, gain strength and find hope among others who understand the challenges of recovery. Family members, friends and loved ones are also welcome, making the support circle wider and stronger.
Host Stephanie has faithfully provided literature, set up chairs and tables, and brought her supportive smile each week, ensuring that the doors are always open to anyone who needs them. To celebrate the one-year milestone of this resource, NA supporters are invited to gather for the first annual NA barbecue at Rose Park from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6.
“This is for not only those in recovery but those with family members, friends and loved ones to get together and commemorate having this resource in our community,” said Stephanie.
She shared that the barbecue is not only a time of food and fellowship, but also a way of recognizing how important it is to have a steady resource like Friday Night Surrender: “Whether directly on the recovery journey, walking alongside a loved one or simply supporting neighbors, all are invited to connect, celebrate and strengthen our community ties.”
