The Lincoln County Photo Festival returns Sept. 19-21, and organizers are calling for models, volunteers and assistants to help bring the event to life. The festival will feature a series of creative sessions led by professional photographers, with opportunities for community members to participate both in front of and behind the camera.
Model sessions will take place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon., 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m., and from 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday. Selected models will receive a complimentary professional image and will be featured in the Photo Fest exhibition. Volunteers who assist will gain hands-on experience working alongside professional photographers.
One highlight of the weekend will be Action Photography with Mark Olson, which will require bike riders to perform loops at the Caliente Skills Park for live captures. Another major feature will be Storytelling Through Portraits with Mikel Conrad, designed to recreate a World War II-era departure scene at the restored Caliente Train Depot.
Organizers are seeking young men ages 18 to 24, outfitted in WWII military uniforms that are provided or coordinated, along with young women ages 18 to 24 in modest 1940s-style dresses or blouses. Organizers are also hoping to find an older couple dressed in 1940s-appropriate attire to portray parents sending their sons off to war. Those interested in volunteering are asked to indicate whether they would like to participate as models, assistants or bike-riders, as well as the time slots they are available. Email info@lincolncountynevada.com for more information about participating. Organizers emphasize that this event is a chance for the community to come together in a unique way, blending history, art and storytelling while providing opportunities for both beginner and experienced photographers.
