The Nevada Offroad Association (NVORA) announced a new online trail listing website, unveiling over 650 miles of off-road trails, including the 240-mile Silver State Trail in Lincoln County.
This new resource, called the Battle Born Trail System, aims to help adventurers navigate the state’s rugged backcountry. More details and GPS tracks are available at https://battleborntrail.com/.
The Battle Born Trail System is a point-to-point off-road route spanning from Pahrump to Virginia City. Currently, the system includes two active sections:
- Battle Born Trail (Red): A 472-mile route connecting Pahrump to Virginia City, which went live in July 2025.
- Silver State Trails (Yellow): A 240-mile network that winds through Lincoln County.
The association has also announced two additional sections that are in development:
- 1861 Trail (Green): Approximately 400 miles, planned to run from Dayton to Ely. This section is expected to be ready by Winter 2025.
- Gold Miner’s Trail (Gold): A challenging 450-mile section from Fernley to West Wendover, with its launch date still to be determined.
NVORA emphasizes that these are routes, not maintained trails. They are unregulated and do not have signage or dedicated maintenance. Therefore, riders should expect deep ruts, washed-out passes and seasonal closures. The association stresses the importance of self-sufficiency, advising riders to bring essential supplies such as helmets, gloves, sturdy gear, water, food and emergency supplies.
Riders are also urged to never ride solo and to always have a support system in place, including support vehicles and backup plans. The unpredictable nature of the terrain, including the potential for flash floods, wildfires and closed roads, makes thorough preparation a necessity. The launch of the trail system is a significant step in enhancing off-road vehicle connectivity across Nevada. The association encourages users to provide feedback and updates on trail conditions. For more information on the association and their work, visit trailnv.com.
