Pahranagat Valley native Cody Whipple has been criss-crossing Nevada’s 4th Congressional District, garnering support for his campaign to unseat Democrat Steven Horsford. 

Running on a platform of school choice and economic growth, Whipple’s campaign website says he has quite a few endorsements, including Jesse Whipple, Mesquite mayor; Kerry Lee and Dahl Bradfield, both retired Lincoln County sheriffs; Congresswoman Celeste Maloy and Crescent Hardy, the last Republican to hold District 4.

During an interview, Whipple reviewed some of the main points of his platform (including his 3 Big E’s – Education, Economy and Energy), emphasizing how much the average rural business – mostly made up of mining and agricultural production – are affected by the lack of support. But even within the city of North Las Vegas, which represents a significant portion of the population of the district, the idea that there would be someone who would not support the “no tax on tips” push was laughable. 

As he competes against fellow Republican David Flippo for the opportunity to face Horsford in next year’s general election, the main point that Whipple wants the people of District 4 to understand is that he is the only lifelong Nevadan in the race and is dedicated to working for Nevada inside and outside of the rural communities. 

According to his website, “[Whipple] has built a successful small business from the ground up, creating Nevada’s first of its kind digital two-way communication network…Today, his network serves first responders, school districts, construction companies and businesses serving Southern Nevada, Southern Utah, Northern Arizona and California, helping keep communities safe and connected.”

Whipple also wants voters to understand his time working with various political movers and shakers (many of whom have thrown in their support behind him, he added). He says that he can also work the political machine in a way that can help his constituents, and that his proximity to these communities speaks to his experience and ability.

One recent addition to his list of endorsements is his one-time competitor, Aaron Hill. Having recently dropped out of the race, Hill recently – and, according to Whipple, without Cody’s request – threw his support behind Whipple as he saw him as the best possible candidate for the Republican Party in Nevada.
