A new creative space is coming to Lincoln County.
The Slop Shop, opening Sept. 19, will offer a mix of art, consignment and community-centered creativity. Owner Mik McRaney describes The Slop Shop as “a place for making magical messes through creativity.”

Owner of the Slop Shop, Mik McRaney, shows artwork ahead of shop’s grand opening slated for Sept. 19.
The front of the shop will feature an art gallery and consignment space for local artists, displaying paintings, sculptures, crafts and other mediums. As an artist herself, McRaney hopes to give others a place to showcase their work and connect with the community.
In addition to gallery space, the shop will include a gift shop filled with handmade items from local and visiting featured artists. McRaney’s goal is to build a creative collective where artists can put themselves out there, not only through displays but also by connecting face-to-face with the public.
Future plans for The Slop Shop include hosting small private art nights where groups can explore painting, crafting and other hands-on skills. “I want to foster creativity in the community and bring something here that we don’t have,” McRaney said.
To celebrate the shop’s opening, McRaney will also host Art in the Park at Kershaw-Ryan State Park on Oct. 4 at 1 p.m. The event is free to the public, and all supplies will be provided for those who want to join in a community craft activity.
A muralist and a lover of color, McRaney says her dream is to see The Slop Shop become a place where creativity flourishes and where residents can discover the talents of Lincoln County’s artists. Details for a public grand opening celebration will be announced in the following weeks, inviting the community to join in marking the occasion.
Artists interested in submitting their work for display or sale are encouraged to contact McRaney directly to learn more about opportunities at The Slop Shop. Connect with McRaney at MikMcRaney@gmail.com for additional information.
