Cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Edith Alta Boren, was called home to the loving arms of her Savior on September 19, 2025.
Edie was born October 9, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she was later adopted by Henry and Linda Rusch. Edie’s parents had her baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church, where her lifelong devotion to Jesus and her proclamation of His love to all began. She attended elementary school there and later graduated from South High School. She then went to Concordia College in Portland, Oregon, where she met Keith Larson. They were married and had five children they adored. His job brought them to Caliente, Nevada, from Salt Lake City. They divorced after 23 years of marriage.
It was in Caliente that she met the love of her life, Millard Eugene Boren. They were married November 29, 1991, and were about to celebrate their 34th wedding anniversary this year. Their life together led them from Caliente to Prescott and Chino Valley, Arizona, and back to Caliente, where they built a beautiful life and a home big enough to share Easter celebrations, bake pies for Thanksgiving dinner, cookies for Christmas, and visits from their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.
She was a lifelong lover of creativity, music, crafts, knowledge, and people, which all paled in comparison to her joy in the Lord and her family.
She is survived by her husband Gene Boren; her children: Linda (Ricky) Garges, Charlotte (Richard) Gloeckner, Jeremy (Stacey) Larson, Anna (Mark) Gloeckner, and Matthew (Trina) Larson; her stepchildren: Valerie Fox, Shane (Natalie) Boren, Terry Boren, and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Edie is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Linda Rusch; her brother, Steven Derbyshire; and her grandson, Samuel Butler.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hall, located across the street from Holy Child Catholic Church on Culverwell Street, at 1:00 pm.
