Dinged-up Panthers wrestle in Desert Storm Classic

Just four varsity wrestlers made the trip to St. George, Utah, for the Desert Storm Classic, Dec. 19-20. Trueitt Ciserella led the team with a 3-2 record, wrestling at 150 pounds. Ciserella got a 9-6 victory in overtime over Gunner Miller of Hurricane and got his two other victories via pinfall.

Rex Marshall, wrestling at 144 pounds, went 2-2, including two victories via pinfall. He also lost by just one point to Delta’s Carter Anderson and fell to Jackson Heaton of Panguitch, 7-4, in double overtime.

“We wrestled well. That tourney is great because the JV guys get lots of matches against good opponents, and the varsity guys get to see some higher-level wrestlers,” informed PVHS head coach Andy Linares. “We had a lot of kids out who are recovering from minor dings, so the roster was pretty limited. All in all, a great weekend. Always looking for opportunities to compete and test ourselves.”

The PVHS boys wrestlers travel to Las Vegas for a dual against Green Valley Christian on Monday, Jan. 6. The girls will join them for the Bonanza Round Up in Las Vegas on Jan. 9-10.
