PVHS boys basketball wins three of four

The Pahranagat Valley High School boys basketball team took down Wells, Escalante and Lund, Dec. 18-20, all by large margins. The Panthers doubled up the Leopards (3-7) on Thursday, Dec. 18, 54-27.

Braxten Tsosie led Pahranagat Valley with 13 points, seven steals and three assists. Morgan Miller added 11 points, four rebounds and three assists. Max Pearson had nine points, and Flint Higbee added eight. 

PVHS carried a 10-point lead over Escalante (5-6) into halftime and extended it to 13 by the end of regulation. They held the Moquis to 22% shooting and forced 18 turnovers.

Tsosie led the Panthers with a double-double, going for 18 points and 10 rebounds. Higbee added nine points, and Colton Williams grabbed nine boards.

The Lund Mustangs (5-7) fell 40-10 to the Panthers at the Beaver Dam Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 20. Miller led PVHS with 16 points and five rebounds. Tsosie added seven points, and Higbee had six.

Only Amplus Academy (5-5) was able to defeat the Panthers at the tournament later that day. The Archers shot the lights out, going four-for-11 from 3-point range and 14-for-18 from inside the arc to win 45-36.

Williams had 16 points, four rebounds and four steals. Higbee added five points and six rebounds. The Panthers hit just four of 20 3-point attempts and four of their 10 free throws.

The Panthers are at Tonopah at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3 before starting their league season at Adelson on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 6:30 p.m.
