The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office stayed busy during the later weeks of Dec., responding to a number of calls across the county, including traffic accidents, domestic disturbances, medical calls and ongoing investigations.

On Dec. 15, deputies responded to a property damage call, which is still under investigation. That same day, a reported accident near State Route 375 north of Rachel turned out to be an abandoned travel trailer, and responding units were canceled. Later on that day, deputies responded to an accident near SR 375, outside of Hiko, where a pickup struck a cow. The driver was checked on scene and fortunately was not injured.

Two domestic disturbance calls were handled on Dec. 17. One report was completed and sent to the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office. In the second incident, one adult female was arrested for domestic battery.

Throughout the reporting period, deputies assisted the Nevada Highway Patrol with several traffic accidents. On Dec. 18, deputies helped confirm that a reported accident near SR 375, north of Rachel, was the same abandoned travel trailer previously located earlier in the week.

A brush fire was reported behind a residence on Dec. 20. That same day, a debris fire at 178 S. Main Street in Alamo got into a downed tree while weeds were being burned. The Pahranagat Valley Volunteer Fire Department responded and quickly put the fire out.

On Dec. 22, a deputy conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of an adult male for DUI. Deputies also responded to a reported protection order violation, which remains under investigation. A rollover accident on SR 318 near Hiko sent two occupants to UMC Trauma Center. Both were stable at the time of transport.

Several calls came in on Dec. 26, including assistance with a dog bite incident where one adult male was cited for having a vicious animal.

Fire and EMS units responded to a vehicle rollover with ejection, resulting in a fatality on US Hwy 93, north of Pioche. First responders worked diligently to provide care and aid to the individuals involved. Law enforcement secured the scene and assisted in the accident.

Deputies also assisted NHP with a non-fatal traffic accident near Alamo that same day. A single-vehicle rollover on US 93 near mile marker 22, south of the Lower Pahranagat Lake Narrows. The driver was checked and released at the scene.

On Dec. 27, deputies responded to a trespassing call, issuing a citation to an adult male, and also assisted Nevada Highway Patrol with a suspicious person call and a separate traffic accident.

Calls for service

Between Dec. 1 and Dec. 28, the Sheriff’s Office responded to eight traffic accidents, four medical calls and one fire call.

Of the medical calls, three patients were treated on scene and did not require transport, while one patient was taken to Grover C. Dils Medical Center for additional care.

Near the US 93 Refuge turnoff, a man was struck by his own rolling vehicle on Dec. 4. He was checked on scene and released.

On Dec. 7 a pickup collided with a semi-truck near US 93 by Green Valley Grocery. No injuries were reported. 

Dec. 9 Deputies responded to an SOS alert for a possible accident near SR 318 mile marker 47, but no crash was found after a search of the area.
