Northern Lincoln County communities are preparing to celebrate the Lincoln County High School Lady Lynx following their historic NIAA 2A State Championship victory in February.
The Lady Lynx secured the 2A state title on Feb. 21 with a dramatic 43-41 victory over Yerington at Wooster High School in Reno. The win marked the program’s first state championship since Lincoln County captured four consecutive titles from 1997 to 2000.
Across Pioche, Panaca and Caliente, signs congratulating the team have appeared on storefronts, fences and homes, reflecting the pride residents feel for the players and their accomplishment. The public will have an opportunity to celebrate the team in person during a Lady Lynx State Championship Award Ceremony scheduled for March 16 at 7 p.m., at the Rick Phillips Gymnasium in Panaca.
The ceremony will honor the players, coaches and supporters who contributed to the championship season and will provide the community an opportunity to recognize the team’s hard work and determination. Community members are encouraged to attend the ceremony to celebrate the team and the pride they have brought to Lincoln County.
