Lincoln County emergency responders handle 94 calls during the week

Lincoln County emergency responders remained active throughout the past week, with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responding to 94 calls for service across the county.

Among the more significant incidents, deputies responded to a suspicious circumstances call in Alamo that resulted in the arrest of one individual. The person was taken into custody on a felony warrant and also faces charges of forgery, possession of burglary tools and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Deputies handled a coroner’s case involving a hospice patient, where the death was determined to be from natural causes.

A dog bite incident in Caliente was also reported during the week, resulting in minor injuries.

Several traffic incidents occurred, though most resulted in no reported injuries. Deputies responded to multiple two-vehicle crashes in Panaca and Alamo, along with a single-vehicle accident where medical personnel treated the individual on scene and no transport was required.

There were two vehicle-versus-animal collisions with one involving a deer. Deputies also responded to a train versus cow collision, though the call was unusual, no injuries were reported.

Fire and EMS Activity

Pahranagat Valley Fire & Ambulance responded to four calls during the week, including one accident, two medical calls and one fire-related call.

Emergency crews responded to a semi-tractor trailer accident in the Narrows along U.S. Highway 93 after the driver swerved to avoid a large rock in the roadway, causing the truck to leave the road. The driver reported minor discomfort and was evaluated by EMS at the scene but declined transport. The Nevada Department of Transportation removed debris from the roadway and the Nevada Highway Patrol was notified.

In a more remote incident, Lincoln County Fire & Ambulance and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple 911 calls reporting an off-road vehicle accident in the Sam’s Camp area southeast of Caliente and Panaca. The injured adult male suffered a suspected lower leg injury but remained alert. Because of the remote desert location, approximately 35 miles from paved roadway, Mercy Air was requested and successfully transported the patient by helicopter for further medical care.

Fire crews responded to a reported brush fire along U.S. Highway 93 south of Alamo, which was later confirmed to be a controlled burn on ranch property.
