Pahranagat Valley High School junior Gaige Crawshaw ran the two-mile race for the first time at Palo Verde track and field meet on Tuesday, April 7, and he excelled, to say the least, finishing fourth overall
“He had himself a really great 3,200 meters. He has been working hard at lowering his time in his mile and 800, and decided he also wanted to try the 3,200 and did so well at it,” informed PVHS head coach Taylor Poulsen.
Crawshaw ran the two miles in just under 12 minutes and also posted a personal best time of 1:00.48 in the 400 meters to finish top-25. He even had a personal best shot put throw of 24.25 feet to take 21st.
Senior Daniel Miller was fifth in the shot put and 10th in the 800-meter race. Junior Kaden Hagfeldt ran the 100-meter dash faster than he ever has (12.12), as did classmates Marek Stout (13.22) and Lance Back (15.76). Hagfeldt was also fourth in the triple jump and eighth in the long jump.
For the Lady Panthers, it was junior Allie Lasike who had the most personal records. She ran her fastest ever 100-meter dash (15.44), 200-meter dash (33.58), and had her best long jump of 12 feet, 5.25 inches, which was good for 10th place. Her younger sister Zoe, a freshman, was eighth in the long jump, joined her on the second-place, 4×100-meter relay team, and ran her fastest 200-meter dash (33.01).
Seraphina Miller and Presley Bundy continued to be top finishers for the Lady Panthers, with Miller taking third and sixth in the 200- and 100-meter dashes, respectively. She was also part of that 4×100-meter relay team and took third in the long jump. Bundy finished 800 meters in just under three minutes for the first time, which was good for eighth place. She was sixth in the 400-meter dash and fifth in the triple jump.
The Panther track and field teams are at the Eureka Invitational on Friday, April 10. The first events are scheduled for 10 a.m. On Tuesday, April 14, they’ll visit Indian Springs High School for a meet starting at 4:30 p.m.
