Lincoln County High School held its annual junior-senior prom on Saturday, April 11, as students gathered to enjoy a Las Vegas-themed evening filled with music, dancing and celebration.
In the weeks leading up to the event, students participated in “promposals,” creating posters and small gifts to invite their dates. Many also took part in daytime activities prior to the dance, including gatherings at home, group outings and trips out of town as they prepared for the evening.
Planning for the event was led by the junior and senior classes, who worked together to organize decorations, coordinate supplies and bring the casino-inspired theme to life. According to Class of 2026 senior advisor Sarah Sommers, students took an active role in creating a memorable experience, with details centered around a “casino, glam” atmosphere.

The dance began at 7 p.m., with students filling the floor to enjoy music, dancing and refreshments, including a drink bar. At the request of students, parent volunteers also contributed a large charcuterie board for the event, supported by additional food donations from families and the community.
At 7:30 p.m., seniors and their chosen escorts lined up for the traditional senior promenade. Escorts included parents, loved ones and even one teacher. Each senior was announced and walked across the dance floor arm in arm with their escort, a highlight of the evening for many in attendance. Following the presentations, seniors and their guests shared a special dance to “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac before rejoining their classmates.
Students continued to enjoy the evening until 10:30 p.m., closing out a night that reflected both the effort put in by the classes and the support of the community. Fundraising efforts throughout the year, including raffles, helped make the event possible.
