The Lincoln County High School softball team won a nine-inning marathon, 4-3, at Boulder City on Saturday, April 18. After both teams scored first-inning runs, the Lynx plated two in the sixth that were answered by the Eagles in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings to force extras. 

“Boulder City was one of the best games this season. They showed grit that whole game,” said LCHS head coach Kylea Lytle. “They made the plays they were supposed to make and played tough. I was proud of them.”

LCHS junior Brylie Somers pitched all nine innings, allowing just one earned run on 10 hits and no walks while striking out two. Senior Cadence Long paced the offense with two hits including a double, driving in one run. Classmate Remington Lytle also had two hits and drove in a run. 

In Alamo on Tuesday, April 14, the Lynx scored in the first six innings to lead 8-6 going into the seventh. Senior Kaley Bart was 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Remington Lytle drove in a run with a double and pitched three shutout innings, striking out five. Junior Sage Carlson had a double, a single and two RBIs.

“PVHS is always a fun game. There is friendly banter, but the girls enjoy it,” Coach Lytle commented. “It’s fun to get to play each other and make each other better heading into the postseason.”

The Lady Lynx did fall 14-4 at Virgin Valley on Thursday, April 16, however. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 12-4 lead through three innings played, as five Lincoln County errors contributed to eight unearned runs for the Bulldogs.

LCHS junior Bentley Barnes was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run scored. Remington Lytle had another double to go with a single and a run scored. 

The Lynx (12-10, 3-1) have one more non-league game at Parowan (Utah) on Thursday, April 23, before continuing their league schedule at GV Christian (4-8, 0-2) at 1 and 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28.
