The young women of the Crystal Springs Ward recently spent an evening in service at the Hiko Cemetery, participating in a hands-on project as part of their weekly mutual activity.
Gathering at 6:30 p.m., the group came prepared with work gloves and a willingness to serve, tackling an abundance of weeds and overgrowth throughout the cemetery grounds. With many hands working together, the youth were able to make noticeable improvements, helping restore the area to a cleaner, more peaceful space.

The project was part of Global Youth Service, held April 24-26, 2026. During this annual event, youth from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints join millions of young volunteers around the world in community-focused service. Many of these efforts are supported through JustServe, which connects individuals and groups with opportunities to serve locally.
Service activities during this annual event range from environmental cleanups and donation drives to assembling hygiene kits and supporting shelters. For the Crystal Springs Ward youth, focusing their efforts on the Hiko Cemetery allowed them to give back in a way that honored the community’s history while caring for a meaningful local space.
Leaders expressed appreciation for the girls’ willingness to show up ready to work, noting the impact that even a simple act of service can have when done with purpose. The evening not only resulted in a cleaner cemetery but also provided an opportunity for the youth to build friendships, develop a sense of responsibility and experience the joy that comes from serving others.
Through their efforts, the young women of the Crystal Springs Ward demonstrated that small acts of service — done together — can have a lasting impact on both the community and those who serve.
