Accidents, medical calls keep Lincoln County crews active

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to 93 calls for service during the week of April 27 through May 3, according to LCSO administrative assistant Loralee Cheney.

Noteworthy calls included a disorderly incident in Caliente on April 29 in which the reporting party declined to sign a citation and a warning was issued. On April 30, deputies executed a search warrant in Caliente, where K9 Bowie assisted in locating multiple illegal narcotics and paraphernalia. Two individuals were arrested.

Also on April 30, deputies responded to a theft report in Alamo, and the case remains under investigation. Additional calls during the week included a vehicle-versus-deer accident on May 1 with no injuries reported; a search-and-rescue response on BLM land for two missing children, who were later located safely; and a single-vehicle accident in Caliente on May 2 with no reported injuries.

Deputies also conducted OHV enforcement in Panaca on May 2 following a report that an individual was operating a dirt bike on residential streets. A warning was issued. On May 4, deputies responded to an animal complaint in Caliente in which the reporting party declined to sign a citation, resulting in another warning.

Elsewhere in Lincoln County, emergency crews responded to several accidents and medical calls throughout the week.

Lincoln County Fire and Lincoln County Ambulance responded to a single-vehicle rollover with entrapment near Beaver Dam State Park on Thursday, May 7. Emergency crews worked to safely access the occupants involved in the crash. Three individuals were transported to the emergency room for further care and treatment.

The Pahranagat Valley Volunteer Fire District responded to three calls during the week, including two accident responses and one medical call in remote areas of Lincoln County.

On May 5, at approximately 4:55 p.m., PVVFD responded to a single-vehicle rollover on U.S. Highway 93 near mile marker 3. Emergency personnel arrived to find a vehicle overturned on its side after leaving the roadway. The occupant was evaluated on scene and no transport was required. The Nevada Highway Patrol handled the investigation.

The following evening, May 6, PVVFD responded to a medical incident in the Rachel area. Due to the remote location, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office transported the patient to meet EMS personnel near mile marker 34 on SR 375 to expedite care. The patient was treated on scene and no transport was necessary.

On May 7, PVVFD responded to a motorcycle accident on SR 318 near mile marker 27 after receiving an automated emergency notification and additional caller reports. Responders located the rider off the roadway and provided medical treatment before the individual was transported by ground ambulance to a medical facility for further evaluation. The Nevada Highway Patrol assisted with the incident.
