Whipple wins Republican Primary, advances to general election

Local rancher and businessman Cody Whipple has secured the Republican nomination in Nevada’s 4th Congressional District and will move on to face incumbent Congressman Steven Horsford in the November general election.

While Whipple’s campaign focused on issues affecting Nevada’s rural communities, his victory also carries special significance for Lincoln County. Born and raised in Hiko, Whipple grew up working on his family’s ranch in Dry Lake Valley and is well known to many local residents. His roots in Lincoln County and upbringing in rural Nevada have remained central themes throughout his campaign, giving area voters the opportunity to watch one of their own advance to the General Election stage.

Following his primary victory, Whipple thanked the many volunteers, supporters, donors and voters who backed his campaign and shared his vision for Nevada’s future. He said the campaign has always been centered on the people of Nevada and preserving the opportunities that make the state unique.

Whipple also emphasized the importance of putting “Nevada First,” saying the slogan represents prioritizing Nevada families, communities and opportunities above politics. He spoke about the state’s history of hard work and independence, adding that Nevadans deserve leadership that understands the challenges facing everyday families and delivers meaningful results.

He also expressed gratitude to his wife, Dana, and their three daughters for their support throughout the campaign, calling them his greatest blessing and motivation.

Whipple said while the primary victory marks an important milestone, he believes the real work begins now as he looks ahead to earning support across Nevada’s 4th Congressional District in November.
