Pioche kicks off summer with cars, country music and more

Summer is officially underway in Pioche, and last Saturday the community was buzzing with activity.

The day began with the third annual Alamo Club Autorama, where car enthusiasts gathered along Main Street to show off vehicles of every kind. The event welcomed all makes and models, with dozens of cars lining downtown as friends, neighbors and visitors swapped stories and admired each other’s rides. There were no judges or trophies, just a chance to enjoy great cars and good company.

June 20 also included the Big 50 Trap Shoot, where nearly 40 participants and attendees gathered for a day of friendly competition at the Pioche Trapshooting Club. Shooters were treated to a hearty lunch prepared by the Masonic Lodge, featuring smoked tri-tip sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, pasta salad, baked beans and rice. Although afternoon winds added an extra challenge on the range, organizers said they were pleased with the turnout and are already looking forward to hosting the next event.

That same evening, 80 Entertainment brought another live concert to Thompson’s Opera House. Rising country artist Gareth took the stage at 7 p.m., performing before a nearly sold-out crowd and adding to Pioche’s growing lineup of summer entertainment.

The fun continues into this upcoming weekend as the Pioche Town Park hosts the Nevada State Horseshoe Pitchers Association Singles and Doubles Tournament on Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28.
