Pioche hosts Nevada state horseshoe tournament

The Nevada State Horseshoe Pitchers Association held the sixth stop of its 30-round 2026 schedule at Pioche Town Park Saturday and Sunday, June 27-28. The two-day event was hosted by the Pahrump Dust Devils Horseshoe Club, with Open Singles games beginning Saturday evening and Open Doubles Sunday morning. Pitchers competed for prizes and trophies.

The Pioche Chamber of Commerce put together a few teams to compete and provided music at the park for the players. Notable local winners included Dell O’Conner of Pioche, Nevada, taking third place in Class B Singles, and Joshua Robinson, also from Pioche, taking third place in Class C Singles.

Sunday’s local notables were Billy McInnis of Pioche, taking second place in Class B Doubles, and Lola Crotts, placing third in Class B Doubles.

The Southern Nevada Horseshoe Pitchers Association will be returning to Pioche Labor Day weekend to throw more shoes and participate in the big weekend of activities.
