The Caliente Family Dollar has closed until further notice as work continues to repair the store’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system.
The store initially closed in early June after its HVAC system failed. At the time, store manager Amy Eyraud said the closure was necessary to protect the safety and health of employees and customers while a new system was installed. The failure resulted in the loss of hundreds of dollars’ worth of temperature-sensitive merchandise.
Although the store reopened with limited hours from 7 a.m. to noon while repairs progressed, Eyraud announced on July 15 that upper management has directed the store to close completely until the remaining work can be completed.
According to Eyraud, crews are currently waiting for the arrival of a critical electrical component known as a disconnect, which is required before the HVAC system can be placed into service. There is currently no estimated arrival date for the part or a timeline for reopening.
“We do the best that we can, and if we could be open to serve your needs, we would be,” Eyraud said. “It is hard to breathe in stagnant, 90-degree buildings.”
Eyraud thanked customers for their patience and understanding, adding that updates will be shared as more information becomes available regarding the store’s reopening.
