The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to 113 calls for service during the past week, handling a variety of criminal, traffic and public safety incidents across the county.
Among the week’s notable calls were arrests stemming from domestic violence, assault and arson investigations. Deputies arrested one individual following a domestic disturbance in Alamo, another after a domestic call in Castleton and one person following an assault in Caliente. A search warrant executed in Caliente also resulted in an arrest on an arson charge.
Deputies assisted Caliente Youth Center staff this week after a juvenile escaped from the facility. With assistance from K-9 Bowie, the juvenile was located and safely taken back into custody.
Deputies also investigated a threatening call and a reported theft in Caliente. The theft remains under investigation, and no arrests have been made in connection with the threatening call.
Traffic-related calls included two separate single-vehicle property-damage crashes in Alamo and Pioche, both without injuries, along with a two-vehicle collision near Hiko, where medical personnel treated those involved at the scene, and no transport was required. Deputies also responded to two separate vehicle-versus-deer crashes, one involving minor injuries treated at the scene and the other resulting in no injuries.
Heavy runoff in Ursine prompted a response after floodwaters washed out roads and damaged several residences. The Lincoln County Road Department responded to clear roadways, and no injuries were reported.
The Sheriff’s Office also investigated a coroner’s case in Panaca. Authorities determined the death was not suspicious.
Pahranagat Valley Fire Department reported 15 calls for service during the past two weeks, including 10 medical calls, three fire-related incidents, one motor vehicle accident and one fire alarm.
Medical calls accounted for the majority of the department’s activity, with crews responding to emergencies in Alamo, Rachel and surrounding areas. Several patients were transported by ambulance to regional medical facilities, while others were treated at the scene or declined transport. One patient was transferred to an advanced medical transport provider, and another was transported to meet Mercy Air for transport to a higher-level medical center.
Firefighters also responded to a two-vehicle collision near Hiko, where patients were evaluated but did not require transport. The department received reports of fires in the Bald Mountain and Hiko areas, both of which were referred to the Bureau of Land Management. No PVVFD fire suppression response was documented for either incident.
