One phrase Nevada Highway Patrol Sgt. Guy Davis often repeated whenever a late-night call came in captured his approach to the job: “If it was my family, I would hope someone would go.”
After 27 years of service to the people of Nevada, Davis officially retired on July 29.

Family, friends and coworkers celebrated the retirement of Nevada Highway Patrol Sgt. Guy Davis on July 29 following 27 years of service.
Throughout his career, Davis responded to crashes, emergencies and calls for service across the state. His work often required long hours, late-night callouts and responding to difficult situations that few outside of law enforcement ever witness. Along the way, he earned honors and awards, completed extensive training and built lasting friendships with fellow troopers and officers.
Those closest to Davis say his greatest legacy is not found in the awards he received, but in the compassion he showed every time he put on the uniform. Family members recalled the months he spent studying to reach new career goals, the hours devoted to preparing his equipment and the emotional weight of heartbreaking calls that remained with him long after his shift ended. They also reflected on the many quiet acts of service that were never seen by the public.
Congratulations to Sgt. Guy Davis on his retirement, and thank you for 27 years of faithful service to the State of Nevada.
