The Lincoln Community Coalition of Nevada is continuing its work throughout Lincoln County, offering programs focused on health and safety, literacy, youth activities and family support.
Residents attending Saturday’s Community Health & Resource Fair in Caliente will have an opportunity to learn more about the coalition, which works alongside local organizations, agencies, volunteers and community leaders on programs serving residents throughout the county.

ommunity Coat Exchanges are among upcoming Lincoln Community Coalition fall activities, joining year-round efforts focused on health and safety, literacy, youth and family support.
Among those efforts is car seat safety, providing parents and caregivers with education, inspections and installation guidance. The coalition also supports Cribs for Kids, which focuses on safe sleep practices and resources for infants.
Narcan training teaches participants to recognize an opioid overdose and safely administer potentially life saving measures with Narcan.
Literacy is another focus of the organization. Through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and the LCC Literacy Program children up to 18 years old can receive a free book each month to encourage early literacy and a lifelong love of reading. A literacy library also expands access to books and educational resources for residents of all ages.
The coalition will continue its community outreach this fall with several events scheduled across Lincoln County. Additional details about each of the events will be available as dates approach.
Community Coat Exchanges begin Sept. 21 in Panaca on the fence in front of the football field. Additional exchanges are scheduled Sept. 28 on the post office fence in Pioche, Oct. 5 at the Caliente Depot lobby and Oct. 12 on the fence at Broadway and North Main Street in Alamo.
October will also bring two Youth Harvest Parties, beginning Oct. 16 in Alamo and continuing Oct. 17 at the Caliente Depot.
A Community Baby Shower is planned for Oct. 21 at the Caliente Depot, followed by the Gingerbread Fun Run Nov. 7 in Caliente, across from Caliente Elementary School at 289 Lincoln St.
The coalition also provides opportunities for residents to become involved throughout the year. The LC Youth Coalition gives local youth an opportunity to participate in community efforts and build skills, while regular coalition meetings provide a place to discuss programs, resources and needs throughout Lincoln County.
From helping families learn about safe sleep and car seat safety to putting books into the hands of young readers and bringing seasonal events into communities across the county, the coalition’s programs cover a wide range of needs while relying on partnerships with organizations, volunteers and community members to make them possible.
The Lincoln Community Coalition of Nevada will be partnering with Grover C. Dils in hosting the Community Health & Resource Fair Saturday, Aug. 15, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Caliente Elementary School gym.
